Web Designing plays very important role now a days. For any business entity, individual, freelancer, professional are internet savvy and need a common platform where they can share their knowledge, work, etc stuff. This is not enough but what matters is “Presentation”. So Web Design comes into place to fit into “Web Presence” layer in Web Development Methodology.

There are some major and minor key point which need to take care of each web desinger:

A) Information Architecture – Sitemap
One must understand the sitemap of entire website. At this point we can identify the depth of navigational system, accordingly we can use menus Horizontal or Vertical fashion.

B) Business Requirement
Most of business is looking for corporate and clean look and feel of the website (light weight). Whereas media, entertainment business are mostly looking for Jazzy look (heavy in size). Check for Document size (800px X 600px , etc..) or floating layout.

C) Templates in Website
Identify most common templates for e.g home page, inner page, contact us page etc.. and try to re-use that to save time and cost of client. While designing template designer must take care of consistency and reusability of components. Try to aviod overlapping of unnecessary components. Dont use too many images as background, try to use 1px image concept.

D) Ease of access
Minimize the unnecessary nesting of navigation. Try to use 2 clicks for any information on the website. Always create sitemap page to access any information from 1-Click only.

E) Performance Tunning
Optimize your image resources as much as you can. For e.g. 200KB image can be optimzed till 15KB – 20KB. Try to see CSS Sprite to avoid loading of multiple images.

F) Usability
Web Site is usable and not complex and confusing for users. Every page must have link of home page, use breadcrumbs for showing path. Provide Quick link drop down for most useful pages.
